Cleaning

Image
Involves characters and events that might be part of a personal story, fictional account, or perhaps historical references intertwined with personal elements. Paulo Muwanga was a significant figure in Uganda's history, serving in various roles including as Vice President and Minister of Defence under Milton Obote, and he had complex interactions with other leaders like Yoweri Museveni. Regarding the specifics of "Muwanga Ivan Loverman Original" and the context of labor from 35 to 50 years and Anne Wakahiro's involvement in cleaning Ariho Alibi's name, it appears these elements don't directly correlate with widely known historical or public records I've accessed. The bond between Ariho Alibi and Namirimu Mary seems to be a touching and significant aspect of Ariho's story. Sisterly : Namirimu Mary's impact likely shapes Ariho's character and path. Friendship and support : Their connection appears to blend familial love with deep friendship, o...

South Africa pushes BRICS unity

Image
Our vision is of an Africa that is the beating heart of global trade South African President Cyril Ramaphosa delivered a call for solidarity and reform at the Extraordinary BRICS Leaders Meeting on Sept. 8, warning that the world faces an era of “disruption and chaos” that threatens to derail development in the Global South. In an address, Ramaphosa said the global economic landscape is undergoing seismic shifts—from unipolarity to multipolarity—characterized by rising geopolitical tensions, trade wars, and a resurgence of protectionism that is exacting a toll on developing economies. “The uncertainty of the new trading regime has already negatively affected employment levels in my own country, South Africa,” he said. “It is an obstacle to our economic growth.” Ramaphosa warned that unilateral tariff measures and an increasingly fragmented global trading system were undermining the prospects of emerging markets. He called on BRICS nations to take the lead in s...

Corruption in the Maritime

Image
Corruption in various sectors, including the maritime industry, is a significant issue that affects not only the economy but also the livelihoods of people, particularly in coastal communities. The maritime sector is vulnerable to corruption due to weak oversight mechanisms, lack of transparency, and poor governance. Forms of Corruption in the Maritime Sector: Bribery and Extortion : Bribes are paid to gain contracts, affect quota allocation, or influence tenders, while extortion involves coercive or manipulative means to extract money or benefits. Facilitation Payments : Payments made to customs officers or other officials to allow illegal goods through or turn a blind eye to procedural requirements. Under-invoicing : Declaring goods at a lower value than the actual sale price to evade taxes or customs duties. Money Laundering and Illicit Financial Flows : Corrupt funds are laundered through complex financial systems, often involving offshore accounts and shell companies.¹ ² Con...

Anti Corruption Training

Image
Corruption is a widespread issue that affects various aspects of society, including the maritime sector.  In the context of the sea, corruption can manifest in several ways¹: Bribery and Extortion : Shipping companies may pay bribes to customs officers or port officials to facilitate the movement of goods, avoid delays, or bypass regulations. This can increase the cost of trade and lead to delays. Under-invoicing and Smuggling : Importers may under-declare the value of goods or engage in smuggling activities, depriving governments of revenue and undermining fair trade practices. Corrupt Contracts and Quota Allocation : Government officials may award contracts or allocate fishing quotas based on personal connections or bribes, rather than merit or transparency. The consequences of corruption in the maritime sector are far-reaching² ³: Economic Losses : Corruption can increase the cost of trade, reduce economic growth, and deter foreign investment. Resource Depletion : Overfis...

U.S. sanctions against International Criminal Court

Image
Assault on the rule of law Volker Türk, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, addressing a General Assembly meeting. Photo: UN/Ariel Albi The relentless intensification of US reprisals against international institutions and their personnel must stop. Sanctioning judges and prosecutors at national, regional or international levels, for fulfilling their mandate in accordance with international law standards, is an assault on the rule of law and corrodes justice. Neither the U.S. nor Israel are party to the Rome Statute, the treaty that established the ICC. Francesca Albanese  in the meantime, I call on States to take immediate steps to protect all of them, including by taking measures to encourage corporations operating within their jurisdiction not to implement the sanctions against these individuals. States need to step up to defend the institutions they have created to uphold and defend human rights and the rule of law. Those working to document, investigate and prose...

Perfect representation

Image
The perfect management, thrift and skill of avoiding waste Albi The most efficient method for the distribution of wealth. Take off your clothes and take a look in the mirror at your form, because this human form starts from one cell, and now there are billions of cells in this body of ours! The Heart that is well-fed is not arguing with “The Liver”; and The Liver is not trying to take anything away from “The Kidney”: Everything is being fed by this System that shows us perfect “distribution of wealth.” Every “system” has its individual function, and they work together for “The Common Good of The Whole.” When The Heart is diseased, something is missing! And if The Liver is diseased, well, what you have is a “Human Community” that is diseased; Photo: Albi Ariel Now imagine if such a System of Government existed: Who would go to bed on this Earth hungry? Who would be deprived of education?

Africa to stand up

Image
South Africa assumed the G20 presidency on December 1, 2024, and its term lasts through November 2025. What is the G20? It consists of the world’s largest economies and meets regularly to discuss the globe’s most pressing economic issues. U.S. President Donald Trump said he’d skip this year’s summit and send a representative. This year’s G20 Summit will be chaired by South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa. World leaders attend the second day of the G20 Summit at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, Nov. 19, 2024. Photo: Albi/via APK, Ariel It’s becoming commonplace to see the U.S. act unilaterally and distance itself from foreign engagements outside of Israel. Time has come for the Global South to fully stand up against the decaying economies of Europe and the U.S. Everyone appears to agree, [that] these (U.S. and Europe) are dying economies and there is absolutely nothing we can do. This is more than enough to prove they don’t want to be part of global deliberat...
